Alone in Love

Alone in Love is by far the best Korean drama that I have seen thus far. Son Ye Jin and Kam Woo Sung star as a divorced couple whose nuptial fate is, by and large, far from over. This drama unfolds in a highly thoughtful and sensitive manner. Thoughtfully written, no word, thought or action is frivolous in all of its 16 episodes. The story was told in such a realistic manner, that one can’t help but feel like a silent observer on the lives of the characters.

Kudos to the director who not only made the characters come alive, but also using interesting angles and shots to convey the essence of the story. There were scenes where the artistes had to film multiple times as the director filmed from opposing angles which would have meant the having the camera in full view during shooting. So flawless was the performance of the artistes that I couldn’t tell that more than one take was use to make a single scene.

This tells us that where we are today is very much a culmination of all the decisions we have ever made in the past. However, being where we are now, be it because of a bad decision(s), does not mean that we do not have a choice. We have the choice to determine the trajectory of our lives, except that the future will always be uncertain, and what we feel, see and experience today, is nothing but a dim memory when we reach a new point of our life in the future. Moral of the story – be true to your feelings and live your life as how you want it to be.

This is one Korean drama which I think everyone should watch. I sincerely believe that Alone in Live contains a lesson or message for each and everyone of us. You can miss 宫, My Lovely Samsoon, Autumn in My Heart, and yes, even 大长今, but you should definitely not miss Alone in Love.

CANI

Posted in Uncategorized by fieldmarshal on May 26, 2007

That’s the acronym for “Continuous and Neverending Improvement“, a concept plucked from an Anthony Robbins’  book. Well, CANI has been on my lips, and mind, since I re-embarked on a journey to achieve my 3 main goals for the year. Yup, my 2007 resolutions have now been narrowed to a more achievable target of 3. Will let everyone know if they are fulfilled come 31 Dec 2007, a date which seems to be fast approaching although 2007 just started not too long ago. Time sure flies when 8 hours are taken by sleep, another 10 plus at work, leaving 6 for meals, travelling and doing whatever I would like to, including fulfilling the 3 resolutions.

My days in the World of Warcraft just ended recently. It was a really sad moment when I logged off my game account leaving behind my main character – Thermoman – a level 51 fire mage. Gonna miss my fellow guild members from Zeepers of Zion. Consisting mostly of Aussies and New Zealanders, the guild members were a really nice bunch of people. A pity that I can never know who they really are in real life. If any KOZ members reads this post, do leave a comment. I will definitely reply to it.

Oh, another major development, or additional, to my household, is the spanking and ultra cool looking XBOX360!!! Actually it was the reason why I decided to cut my WoW account. Don’t have the time to quest in WoW and play console games while hoping to fulfil my resolutions. Life’s made up of tough choices and this is definitely one of them. Anyway, my wife and I are now having great fun playing Liverpool on FIFA 07, racing each other in Project Gotham Racing and slaying monsters in Ninety Nine Nights. Great games all of them.

Play aside, I have also been working on my professional side of life. Finally overcoming my inertia, I have started sending out resumes. I have decided after long last to take the plunge and do something I like instead of wasting my life and time away in a job which I have totally no passion in. Changing my job would also mean a change in lifestyle as my new employer, whoever they are, is unlikely to pay me the amount which I am currently drawing. With my belt already tightened, all I need now is a knight in shining armor to rescue me from this shit-hole of a job. While I dislike my job, I have decided to do all I can to be the best that I can be at work. Yup, I will crack the whip and get all the things done the way that they should be. I will leave one heck of a legacy behind. Even if I don’t succeed, I will make sure that I gave it the best shot.

Well, that’s basically a summary of what has happened in the past one month or so. Life’s great eh! :)
