Last sip of the Coffee Prince
Apart from the short interludes for the Liverpool vs Wigan football match and the Japanese Grand Priz Race at Fuji, my television was screening the 8th to 17th Cups, including the special programmes, of the Coffee Prince’s First Shop drama series from Saturday to Sunday. It was my very first Korean drama marathon, one that lasted a total of 11 hours over the weekend!
While this experience has left me a little light headed as I write this post, I have to say that the experience was entirely fulfilling and fun! It’s especially good fun when I have my wife besides me drawing parallels between Go Eun Chan’s (Yoon Eun Hye’s character) and Choi Hang Kyul (Gong Yoo’s character) characters and us!
Think I will need a clearer head, and lots of coffee induced caffeine boost, before any attempt in writing a brief synopsis of the series. All I can say now is that Coffee Prince’s First Shop has been a thoroughly enjoyable drama series which did a great job in filling the gap left behind by Flowers for My Life.
On a scale of 10, Coffee Prince’s First Shop is a solid 8 pointer for me. I am already missing Eun Chan’s dogged determination in everything she does and Hang Kyul’s love for his ‘little rascal’.

You saw the drama? I just finished today..lol..
Anyway that’s the food I was talking about the mix food that go eun chang made when she was kinda down..it looks all red and stuff.. Anyway, I was the one on that posted a comment at ‘ur sweet lullaby’…^^
Have to agree with you totally on this drama. Watched it right thru the night to finish all episodes. Couldn’t stop at all!
Anonymous – Congrats on finishing Coffee Prince! Hoped you enjoyed it as much as I did. Do you still want the recipe. Been kinda busy to upload it since I have to transcribe it from a cookbook. hehe. In the series, they called Korean fried rice(?). But I believe it is Bibimbhap, basically, vegetables, kimchi, meat, eye and chilli paste mixed together with japanese, or sticky rice. Think these are also the long grained sort.
Bing Lee – I have to hand it to you! In 24 hours, that’s a feat! I took 4 days in total.
haha I completely understand when you say that you feel a little “light headed” from doing a marathon. While I didn’t do that with THIS drama I’ve done it before with others
Anyway, not sure if you are planning on getting hooked with these dramas but if you are I highly recommend a new k-drama site built by actual fans! It’s http://www.mykofan.com
I’ve been sneaking in my guilty pleasure at work and am so thankful for this site. LOL
Hi! The Coffee Prince was my very own, first Korean marathon starting from Friday night, lasting well into the afternoon of the next day… but the funny thing was, I wasn’t the least bit exhausted! An even if I was, I couldn’t stop myself! The direction was lovely… not to mention acting so real, you almost wouldn’t believe. I turned off my mac with the best feeling the world – sweetness and sunshine =) And the soundtrack is wonderful!
Take care, and I hope to read more of you soon!
nice to know that i was not the only one who got hooked with coffee prince. it was my first korean drama marathon too.
Such a captivating drama made so real by the sensitive acting and characterization of the actors. the feeling of sweetness and romance still lingers…like the aroma of a well-brewed coffee
