Feeling Connected
Life is a mysterious thing.
There are days where I am totally adrift. I have no idea why am I in office, why am I doing what I am doing or what’s the meaning to life?
And there are days like these when I feel totally engaged in life, finding meaning in my work, and enjoying everything I do.
Guess it has to do with the question of “What’s the purpose of life?” Yupgi asked me this very question some days back. Being the non-reflective sort, I have never asked myself that question, and neither was this the first time the question was posed to me.
I struggled to come up with an answer. Actually, I was stumped. All I could muster was “My purpose is to lead a simple, happy life.” Yupgi, in all her wisdom accepted it, although I have a feeling that she doesn’t think that one’s purpose in life should be as simple as that.
While that moment for reflection has passed, the question has continued to play in my mind. In some way, it has become a mantra in assessing everything I have done over the last few days.
When approaching an activity or task, my mind would ask “Does this activity serve any purpose in my life?” This conitnued “questioning” has an effect of helping me prioritise my daily activities. No doubt playing the World of Warcraft and watching the latest Korean drama still takes up my time, but I feel more in control of life.
While I have yet to find the defining purpose in life, I am glad to have such a wise wife to guide me along.

the purpose of life. good question. When I first thought about this, I felt all queezy thinking about how this life would end someday, whether I accomplished to build the next worlds trade center or die with only 2 dollars in my hand. I pondered this much of my adolescent life. Once I say the magical “God” word, you will presumably get turned off. But please listen and in all defense, as a true witness, he is for real and you have an ultimate purpose, which was created by Him, and by Him alone. Small or big the purpose might seem to us, who are we to judge the importance of one’s purpose? As for me, I believe God is guiding me to become a doctor and help serve those in need not just in poverty stricken areas in the U.S. but all over the world. Even though I do not know where you hail from or what you do or even something simple as your name, I will pray dearly for you and pray that you find your purpose, but more importantly find God if you do not know him already. THANKS for reading this =)
Jesus loves you!
