Round to flat
It’s interesting to find so many familiar childhood faces in Facebook. What surprised me more were that my formerly lean and trim friends are all round and portly.
It’s really weird to me cos I started out found, read fat, and I gradually lost the extra kilos between my NS days till now. There’s definitely some truth to ageing and weight gain. Perhaps the reason why I can still see my toes is the unsaid, yet strict, diet restrictions placed on me by my wife.
Don’t get me wrong. I am no vegan, cos I still love my meats. Basically, instead of having a fastfood meal 2-3 times a week, I now only have them say 2-3 times a month. The same goes for my big pack of favourite Lay’s chips and what not.
It kinda weird that I recognise most of my friends with their faces piling up on pounds while they have trouble recognising the trimmer me. But it is interesting that in my mind’s eye, I always remember the lean versions of these guys who spent almost 10 years of our lives together in the classrooms of St Michael’s and SJI.
